Wax pastels.

Inspired after walking home from work on a crisp December evening through the city of Wells, Somerset. Walked past a closed art gallery and stopped to peer in. Felt angry and repulsed at the weak watercolours and weak sentiments inside. There was no passion or life or energy to be seen and I felt like splashing some garish red paint all over the shop window just to add a bit of colour and life.
This creature is what came out when I got home.
I like her a lot.

BIRTH GODDESS. After birth of my second child this year I felt strongly drawn to this picture. I suddenly saw it as a birth goddess, exuding such a strong, powerful energy. The snaking between the legs very much like the umiblical cord with the central force exploding out much like the energies of birth. I like her even more now....
